Dialog is happy to announce that users who export Dialog records to RefWorks can do so automatically from DialogClassic Web™ and DialogLink® 5. This Dialog At-a-Glance short module demonstrates how to export citations retrieved in a search on DialogClassic Web and DialogLink 5 to RefWorks.
This online module assumes you know how to conduct a basic search on Dialog. You can view the session from any computer attached to the Internet.
Slide 2
Many files on Dialog are enabled for RefWorks output. These include, but are not limited to MEDLINE®, EMBASE®, BIOSIS Previews® and SciSearch®: a Cited Reference Science Database, as well as Inspec®, Ei Compendex® and PASCAL.
Slide 3
Here’s how it works: BEGIN a RefWorks enabled database, for example, Inspec (File 2), and conduct a search.
Slide 4
The new RefWorks command looks and acts like the TYPE command. Use the syntax Refworks followed by a space, then a set number, slash, the desired format, slash, and the range of records. You can directly export a record by accession number, if known. The command is refworks followed by a space, the record accession number, a slash, followed by the desired format. In a Dialog OneSearch® (multifile search) you can use the FROM feature to export records to RefWorks FROM a file or files or FROM EACH database.
Slide 5
After you have created a search set and you are ready to export to RefWorks, enter the command, for example, REFWORKS 1/9/1-100. RefWorks creates a hyperlink and immediately exports records directly to RefWorks.
Slide 6
A new window opens. The next screen to open will be the logon screen to RefWorks.
Slide 7
Select a Logon method to access RefWorks. If you use Remote Access, enter the group code in the login box.
Slide 8
Remote Access users may need to enter a username and password.
Slide 9
RefWorks imports the specified records into RefWorks. Click the “View Last Imported” button to proceed into RefWorks and see the latest records imported.
Slide 10
RefWorks has successfully imported the records.
Slide 11
Searchers who use DialogLink 5 will need to download the latest version of DialogLink 5 to have access to the RefWorks command. To download the latest version of DialogLink 5, go to http ://support.dialog.com/downloads/dialoglink/
Slide 12
Dialog Alerts now have RefWorks capability in RefWorks supported files. REFWORKS is a new option in the PRINT command. To create an Alert for export to RefWorks enter the PRINT command as:
PRINT SET NUMBER SLASH FORMAT SLASH RECORD RANGE, SPACE REFWORKS ADDR, followed by the USER ADDRESS.
Output is delivered in HTML format and can be delivered inline or as an attachment.
Slide 13
Dialog Alerts set up with the REFWORKS option present a hyperlink users can click to export the records in the Alert to RefWorks.
Slide 14
Searchers can also click on a hyperlink above each record in the Alert to export it to RefWorks.
