SAVE (continued) Integrating SearchSaves into Other Searches
You can execute all or part of a SearchSave, enter additional command lines, and then SAVE that new strategy. You can use a SearchSave at any time during a search, because Dialog renumbers its sets according to current set history. However, if you are using the SearchSave within another search strategy, and your SearchSave contains set numbers in its command lines, and you plan to also SAVE this new search, you must do either of the following:
This will ensure that any new set numbers used within the earlier SearchSave remain valid in the new SearchSave. If you are not going to SAVE the new search, you can EXECUTE the SearchSave at any point during the search session, and Dialog will adjust the internal set numbering during the execution process. In the following example, the RECALL command is used to view the command lines of the permanent SearchSave GEOM. The EXECUTE STEPS command specifies that only the first two lines are to be executed. A new search term is added to the strategy, and a TYPE command verifies relevancy. Next, a Dialog Alert profile is created using SAVE ALERT. • To incorporate part of a SearchSave into a new SearchSave or Alert: File 1:ERIC 1965-2008/Jan

Alert "GEOM1" saved
DialogClassic Web: The SAVE ALERT command generates a dialog box, which prompts for an Alert name and print statements, and provides check boxes and radio buttons for de-duplication and frequency options. DialogLink 5: To execute partial SearchSaves,
use the syntax EXS DialogClassic: Allows for stacked responses to prompts in SAVE ALERT, e.g., N; N at the prompt for duplicate removal, rather than waiting for and responding to the next prompt regarding notification. DialogWeb—Command: Does not support stacked commands for "Y" or "N". |
