To create a new SearchSave or Alert, enter the EDIT command alone. If using EDIT to create an Alert while in a file other than the files in which it is to be run, be sure to use the FROM option when entering SAVE ALERT to designate the correct databases.

To edit an existing SearchSave or Alert, enter EDIT followed by the name or serial number of the SearchSave/Alert.

The Online Editor has two modes:

In Edit mode, enter any of the 10 EDIT commands at the EDIT: prompt.

In Input mode, enter new text at the INPUT: prompt.

To move from Edit mode to Input mode, type INSERT at the EDIT: prompt. To move from Input mode to Edit mode, press the enter key twice at the INPUT: prompt.

The 10 EDIT commands are listed below and described in more detail in the next several sections:

 CHANGE

DELETE

For online help using the Online Editor, enter HELP followed by any of the EDIT commands at the EDIT mode prompt.

?help renum

The RENUM Command in the Online Editor (HELP EDRENUM) Use the RENUM command (abbreviated R) to renumber the lines of the file you are editing. If you have altered your file by moving text, creating new lines numbers, or deleting old numbers, you can renumber the file in increments of 10 by simply entering the command RENUM. If you wish to reset the increment by which lines are numbered, enter the RENUM command followed by the number by which you wish to increment the lines.

RENUM 20 (renumber the lines in increments of 20)
