How to Use This Guide

This online Guide documents all the commands with descriptions and examples available for Dialog Command Language. Command descriptions are presented in alphabetical order for easy access. Use the table of contents to move directly to topics of interest. Some commands work differently depending on the interface. Details relating specifically to differences in interfaces are noted separately.

We have provided handy hyperlinks so you can easily go to related sections of the Guide. For example, if you are viewing information on the COST command, you can quickly move to the related topic SET SUBACCOUNT.

Each command entry includes:

  • Command name
  • Abbreviations and alternate forms of the command
  • Command syntax
  • Availability on DialogClassic Web, DialogLink 5, DialogWeb—Command, or DialogClassic
  • Usage Notes relating to possible command differences on DialogClassic Web, DialogLink 5, DialogWeb—Command, or DialogClassic
  • Description of the command
  • Search examples illustrating how the command is used
  • Search examples illustrating the use of any optional parameters or qualifiers

Conventions Used in the Text

Some commands have optional parameters or qualifiers (e.g., the TAG option can sometimes be used with the TYPE or PRINT command), while other parameters in some commands may vary (e.g., the DIALORDER supplier acronym in an ORDER command). These optional and variable parameters are shown in this Guide within the < > symbols (e.g., <Sn> indicates set number). Command formats are always shown in generic form at the beginning of the textual explanation of the command or the command variation.

The following conventions are always used:

 <Sn>Set number
<items>Item numbers of records in a set
<SearchSave>Serial number or name of a given SearchSave

In the search examples, everything that you enter is shown in bold.
