Editing an Alert Using the Dialog Online Editor

These instructions describe the steps for editing an Alert with Dialog commands. Alerts may also be edited within DialogWeb®. When using DialogWeb, click Alert, Alert Review and follow the onscreen instructions.

Step 1
Enter edit followed by the Alert name.

Enter list to see the details of the Alert.

Step 3
Use the EDIT command to make any changes to the Alert. See Summary of Dialog Online Editor Commands below.

Make the changes to the Alert using the CHANGE, DELETE, or INSERT command.

Entering the command "c 50/20/20 abemail/" changes line 50 by adding "abemail" after line 20.

    Deletes line 30.

    Re-inserts line number 30, but not the text. The system is now ready to receive the new statement for line 30. Press <ENTER> twice to return to edit.

Step 4
When editing the Alert in a "free" file, always specify the frequency (daily, monthly, etc.) and the file it's being run from.

?save alert update month from 148
-->Replace "DDCER148"? (Y = Yes  N = No)

Step 5
Type Y to replace the Alert and keep the changes made. Type N to return to the editor.

Once editing is complete, save the Alert with the new revisions. The system will confirm that the Alert has been revised and saved.

To rename an Alert:
To rename an Alert, follow Steps 1-3. At Step 4, replace the current name of the Alert with its new name of 3-6 characters (e.g., save alert cer monthly from 148), and follow Step 5. Note that an Alert with the previous name will still be stored. Type recall Alert and release to delete the unwanted Alert (e.g., release ddcer148.)

Deletes the Alert. You cannot delete an Alert created under another user ID.

Use the following steps to edit an existing Dialog Alert using the online editor. Press <ENTER> after each command.
