From the Experts: Take Advantage of the Alert Delivery Tracker Tool on DataStarWeb

The Alert Delivery Tracker tool on DataStarWeb lets you monitor the status of all of your Alerts and Document DELIVERs (output sent using DataStar Classic ..DELIVER command or DataStarWeb [Deliver] option) sent in the last two months via e-mail. With this handy administrative tool you can request that an Alert or Document DELIVER be resent to you or someone else, edit e-mail addresses or add additional ones. Once logged on to DataStarWeb, select the "Tracker" link on the Navigation bar at the top of any page to monitor your Alerts.

The Alert Delivery Tracker provides three types of reports for all Alerts and Document DELIVERs for the most recent two months: 1) an Overview Report with each Alert and DELIVER categorized by number; 2) a History Report with explicit information pertaining to a specific Alert or Document DELIVER; and 3) a Detailed Status Report of Alerts and DELIVERs sent including any errors and reject messages that may have occurred in the delivery.

Overview Report
The Overview Delivery Report contains two tables listed in chronological order, the first with your Alerts and then a listing of all of your Document DELIVERs. Each row is numbered and columns can be sorted easily in ascending or descending order by clicking the column heading.

The Tracker screen is color-coded so you can see the status of your Alert or Document DELIVER at a glance. In the "Last Status" and "Status History" columns, green denotes successfully sent and red indicates a problem with the delivery.

To determine what type of problem occurred with the delivery, click the hyperlinked error message in the Status History column and the History Report page displays.

History Report

History Report
The History Report provides details for each Alert and DELIVER you have sent. From this screen you can acknowledge an error or resend Alerts or documents.

There are various reasons why the delivery process could fail, for example, entering an invalid e-mail address as in this example. To acknowledge the error on a particular date, click the [Acknowledge Error] button above the table, and the entry for this selection in the Last Status column will turn yellow.

You can also resend Alerts from the Alert History Report page. If you want to resend individual Alerts, click the box next to the query number and click the [Resend] button. Note: To resend a number of Alerts, check the box on the first row of the table. All the Alerts listed in the table will automatically be selected and the table will change to the color blue; then click the [Resend] button.

Detailed Status Report

Status Report
The Detailed Status Report provides more details about the error for a particular Alert or DELIVER and lets you edit the e-mail address or enter additional addresses in a box provided. Then you can click the [Resend] button to resend the document.

Using the DataStarWeb Tracker makes keeping track of your Alerts and DELIVERs and their status a simple process. If you haven't tried this tool, save time and try it today!
