Support : Publications : Chronolog Archives : Issue 4, 2005 Sixty-Three Years of Agricultural Literature Added to CAB Abstracts Covering the literature from 1910 to 1972, CAB Abstracts Archive makes over 1,860,000 records on every aspect of agricultural science, veterinary medicine, nutrition and natural resources, available electronically for the very first time. The Archive combines 17 printed abstract journals produced between 1910 and 1972 (the equivalent of 600 volumes) into a single electronic database. CAB Abstracts Archive makes accessible important research that has been "lost," "forgotten" or "ignored." Previously only available in print, this knowledge has in effect been inaccessible to all but the most determined researcher. CAB Abstracts Archive is fully searchable and has been re-indexed with modern terms to allow today's researcher full and immediate access to the research of the past. On DataStar, the Archive has been loaded into a separate file under the CA72 file label, which can be accessed by subscribers only. At the request of the publisher, the Archive is available either on a purchase basis (i.e., ownership in perpetuity) or on a site-license basis. Transactional access will not be an option until further notice. Customers that already have licenses to the current data of CAB Abstracts and buy an Archive subscription in addition will benefit from a super file label (CAXX) that allows searching across all data from 1910 to date. File Label Changes for CAB Abstracts Customers of CAB Abstracts on DataStar should note that the file labels for this file have been changed as follows:
For any questions regarding the CAB Abstracts Archive or the changes in file labels, please contact your account manager or the Knowledge Center. Note also that some minor changes have been made to the layout and functionality of CAB Abstracts on DataStar, including some new paragraphs and some changed paragraph labels. These are explained in detail in the CAB Abstracts database guide, which is available in the BASE database. Search BASE-CABI to retrieve the guide. |
