Pharmaprojects Target Gene Information

As part of the latest reload to Pharmaprojects (File 128), all records now contain a Target Data field. In more than half of these records, the Target Data field contains a link that takes you to the Entrez Gene database from the U.S. National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). The link connects to an entry in the database for the gene whose product is targeted by the drug of record.

For the remaining records, the Target Data field is populated by one of three new codes. The three definitions for the new codes are:

  • 99999997: drugs that have a known target, but for which there is no gene entry in the Entrez Gene database

  • 99999998: drugs that have no target

  • 99999999: drugs that have an unknown target
