Descriptor Terms in EMBASE®

In EMBASE®, you may come across some terms in the DE paragraph marked with a plus sign (+). These are considered candidate terms—terms that have been identified by EMBASE indexers as new concepts that are not present in EMTREE (e.g., disease terms and names of new drugs). Candidate terms are reviewed annually by the database provider and between 500 and 1,500 terms are added to EMTREE.
