Drug Information Fulltext (DIFT) Improved and Reloaded on Dialog DataStar

The Drug Information Fulltext (DIFT) file on Dialog DataStar, produced by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), was recently reloaded. The database contains content from two important publications — American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS) Drug Information and the Handbook on Injectable Drugs. The database contains entries for more than 50,000 drug products in the U.S. market and is a useful resource for those in the pharmaceutical and allied industries. It is also available through Dialog Choice for a fixed-fee license. Updates are monthly.

Content changes include:

  • A new classification system for concept codes

  • Updated classification of therapeutic classes

  • New paragraphs for Chemical Name, Investigational Name, Synonyms, Copyright Statement, Entry Date and Cross-References

  • The elimination of Descriptor paragraphs
