Zoological Records (File 185) Reloaded with Content Enhancements

Zoological Records was recently reloaded with the following enhancements:

• Unified thesaurus covering all years of the database. The taxonomic thesaurus now uses current terminology throughout the file, enabling more comprehensive searches and simpler search queries.
  
  
• Source information is supplied in a more granular structure to enable better fulltext linking.
  
  
• Additional abstracts, available from 2001, have been added to the file. From 2004 a higher proportion of articles carry abstracts. Later in the year approximately 500,000 more abstracts will be made available for the pre-2001 data.
  
  
• Additional content. The number of international journals monitored for inclusion has risen to over 5,000.

Zoological Records currently includes over 1.6 million records, with 70,000 records added per year. The database goes back to 1978 and is updated monthly. For further information, refer to the Bluesheet for File 185.
