Search Tip
Techniques to Refine Searches in Dialog Profound

Here are some tips to help you find relevant articles and look up potential authors of articles.

  • To search for terms in the lead paragraph of a document, type your search in the Freetext box beginning with "thestart&" command (e.g., thestart&Eminem).

  • In WorldSearch when searching for phrases using the "Near" operator (ampersand), put quotation marks around the phrase. For example, to find the phrase "foreign trade" within four words of "importers," enter: "foreign trade" & importers. Note: The default for the "Near" operator is within 20 words. You can adjust the proximity by putting a colon with the number (up to 50) after the phrase, (e.g., "foreign trade" & importers:4).

Phrases must also be enclosed in quotation marks when limiting a search to the lead paragraph (thestart). For instance, to search for "George Bush" in the lead paragraph, enter: thestart&"George Bush".
