The LIMITALL Command and Dialog NewsRoom

The Search Tip titled "Searching by Document Type in Dialog NewsRoom" on page 9 of the May/June issue has generated some questions. Here is a more complete explanation of using the LIMITALL command with document types.

SELECT the document type (DT=) you want to use. Then enter LALL/S1, which will invoke the LIMITALL command. You cannot LIMITALL using just the document type (e.g., LALL/NEWSPAPER).

Note: The LIMITALL command may take some time to process depending on the number of records in the SET that you will be using in your LIMITALL command.

The following search is an example of the LIMITALL in NewsRoom on Dialog.
