Use for Alerts created in: DialogClassic, DialogClassic Web, DialogWeb—Command or Guided Search. If you wish to use the DialogWeb-Guided Search interface to convert an Alert to a multifile, you must recreate the Alert and delete the old one. The Alert can be modified only by using the command-language interface options described in Methods 1-3. If your existing Alert is very long and complex, it may be easier to make edits using an editor or word processing program with the Type Ahead buffer feature of DialogLink. See Figure 4 (below) for an illustration of Method 4. Figure 4: Create a New Alert; Delete the Old Alert In this example, shown using the DialogLink software, the commands of an existing Alert are RECALLed, cut and pasted into the DialogLink editor, modified, and the copied back into the Type Ahead buffer. The Alert is then run and saved as a new Alert; the old Alert is RELEASEd. Step 1: Using a word processing program, type your search strategy. For example, set up a multifile Alert to run in MEDLINE, BIOSIS Previews, and EMBASE.
Step 2: Copy the search strategy (cont. C) from the word processing program and paste (Edit/Paste) in the type-ahead buffer in the DialogLink software.
Step 3: Continue the Alert setup process as shown in Method 3. |
