Changes to the CAB ABSTRACTS CABICODES

CABICODES are subject classification codes used to index records in the CAB ABSTRACTS (File 50/CABI) and CAB HEALTH (File162/HUMN) databases. There are currently over 300 hierarchically structured CABICODES that are used to classify broad subject areas within a CABI database record. The codes provide a useful means of searching on broad concepts that would often be difficult to define with keywords alone; for example, the CABICODE FF610 codes for all records about viral, bacterial or fungal diseases of plants.

From time-to-time it is necessary to make changes to the CABICODE list to reflect changes in research and associated database coverage. A number of these changes have just been made and started to appear in Dialog and DataStar records at the beginning of August 2002.

The following changes have just been made and will begin to be seen on Dialog and DataStar records from August this year.
