Changes to CA SEARCH: CHEMICAL ABSTRACTS on DataStar and Dialog
Changes to CA SEARCH: CHEMICAL ABSTRACTS (CHEM/File 399) have been implemented in the first issue of CA Volume 137, which was online on July 6.
CHEM/File 399 now contain the following new features:
- The complete full title of the journal or conference proceeding in the Source paragraph (SO).
Search as: PURE-AND-APPLIED-CHEMISTRY.SO. (DataStar)
The abbreviation will continue to be available: PURE-APPL-CHEM.SO.
Note: On Dialog the complete journal title will be displayed in parentheses after the searchable abbreviation in the Journal Name (JN=) field: S JN=PURE APPL CHEM. The full journal name will not be searchable since the pre-volume 137 records would still have to be searched by abbreviation.
- ISBN number available in the Source paragraph on DataStar (BN= on Dialog). Search with hyphens: 3-540-65448-8.
- New Publication Type paragraph (PT). Search using the following Quick codes:
PT=B for Book
PT=C for Conference proceedings
PT=D for Dissertation
PT=J for Journal
PT=P for Patent
PT=R for Preprint
PT=T for Technical report
A lookup list is available on DataStarWeb™; use ..ROOT PT= to display a list on DataStar Classic.
Note: On Dialog the new document type for Preprint is: DT=PREPRINT. All other document types continue to be searchable in the DT= index as full terms, except Journal and Patent. Use LIMIT to restrict a term or set to patent records, e.g., S S1/PAT or non-patent records, e.g., S S2/NPT.
- The copyright statement has been moved to its own Copyright paragraph (CP).
- A new coden for IP.com Journal: IJPOX. Search as IJPOX.CD. on DataStar (CD=IJPOX on Dialog).
See BASE-CHEM for details or consult the datasheet: http://library.dialog.com/datasheets/. On Dialog see http://library.dialog.com/bluesheets.
