Motor Industry Research (File 81) Now on Dialog

Need timely information on the latest business and technical developments in the automotive industry? Now available on Dialog, Motor Industry Research (File 81/MIRA) is the online equivalent of two electronic publications produced by MIRA Ltd. (formerly known as the Motor Industry Research Association) -- Automotive Business News and Automobile Abstracts. Both titles are established leaders in their field, providing bibliographic details and abstracts from a wide range of general business, industry and technical sources.

Content and Coverage. MIRA (File 81) is a rapidly growing comprehensive database spanning all aspects of the global automotive industry. Coverage of technical topics extends over the full breadth of automobile engineering, including vehicles, components, materials, production technology, fuels and lubricants, and research and development. Specific coverage is also given to business topics, including company financials, mergers and acquisitions activity, collaborative and joint ventures, production and sales statistics, and other news items. Although news from vehicle and component manufacturers represents the primary interest of the database, extensive coverage is also provided of developments in fields closely allied to the automotive industry, particularly the manufacture of steel, tires, and other rubber components.

MIRA provides answers to wide-ranging questions such as:

  • What are the latest developments in fuel cell electric vehicles?

  • Which European vehicle manufacturers are taking an interest in selective catalytic reduction?

  • What is the current level of automotive mergers and acquisition activity in Europe?

  • What is forecast in 2002 for new vehicle registrations in North America?

Articles are selected from a range of over 100 technical and trade publications, newspapers, conference papers and research reports, books and other special publications, both in printed and electronic form. Extensive coverage is also provided of press releases from companies and other automotive-related organizations. English language abstracts are available for nearly all articles, including those from foreign language publications.

Search Features. Use /DE to search Descriptors, /SJ, SJ= for Subject Headings, and DT= for Document Type, e.g., S FUEL CELL ELECTRIC VEHICLES/DE; S FORD(W)MOTOR/SJ; S DT=JOURNAL. Use CS= to see which companies or other organizations are active in a particular field, e.g., S CS=ACE SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGIES.
