GeoRef Launched Under the Dialog@Site Interface

The Dialog@Site software offers customers local or remote Web browser access to the world's leading collection of science and technology databases, now including GeoRef, together with the most comprehensive fulltext linking service.

With Dialog@Site customers can choose whether to load GeoRef locally behind their firewall for total security or access the database remotely via a Dialog server or one of our partners' servers located throughout the world. Whichever access option a customer prefers, they are guaranteed true unlimited usage of GeoRef for a fixed annual payment.

Established by the American Geological Institute in 1966, GeoRef provides access to the geoscience literature of the world. GeoRef is the most comprehensive database in the geosciences and continues to grow by more than 70,000 references a year. Each month between 6,000 and 7,000 new references are added to the database. The database contains over 2.2 million references to geoscience journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports, theses, government publications, dissertations and meeting papers. GeoRef covers the geology of North America from 1785 to the present and the geology of the rest of the world from 1933 to the present. The database includes references to all publications of the U.S. Geological Survey. Masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from U.S. and Canadian universities are also covered.

GeoRef corresponds to the print publications: Bibliography and Index of North American Geology, Bibliography of Theses in Geology, Geophysical Abstracts, Bibliography and Index of Geology Exclusive of North America, and the Bibliography and Index of Geology. GeoRef organizes and indexes papers from over 13,000 serials and other publications representative of the interests of the 29 professional geological and earth science societies that are members of the AGI. GeoRef is international in coverage with about 40% of the indexed publications originating in the United States and the remainder from outside the U.S.
