Did You Know ...
The DataStar Duplicate Detection Command

The DataStar duplication detection command ..DEDUP compares the Title (TI), Translated Title (TT), first Author (AU), and abstract in technical literature databases; Title and Source (SO) in the business databases and Company Name (CO) and Address (AD) in the company directories. Each database is scanned in turn to identify unique documents. The order of databases you specify in the StarSearch makes a difference. Once a document is retained from one database, if the same document is found in a subsequent database, it is treated as a duplicate. Any variation in the data elements compared, such as a different word or spelling in the title, will cause the document to be retained.

Search Tip

The StarSearch ..DEDUP command compares key data elements in a set of records and creates a new set of unique records. By default, 2,000 records may be de-duplicated at once, but you can change the default setting to process up to 99,999 records! Enter the command ..SET DEDUP NNNNN.
