Build Your Personalized File on DataStar

PrivateStar (PRIV) is your own personalized file stored on DataStar. You can build a file from documents compiled from DataStar databases, personal research material and data collected from other external sources. Information can be sent directly to your PRIV via the commands ..ALERT and ..DELIVER. It can be accessed easily by using the command language familiar to you on DataStar. All the databases that have Electronic Redistribution and Archiving (ERA) rights can also be stored in your Private File.

Using a special form on DataStarWeb allows you to upload your own documents from Word files or from other online sources to PrivateStar.

DataStar has mapped the field structure of its diverse database collection into a single, flexible format that allows you to combine documents from widely different sources. For example, you may want to create a private file to track the progress of your pharmaceutical competitor's product line; your private file can contain biomedical research articles from MEDLINE database label: (EDL), drug pipeline reports from Pharmaprojects (PHAR), a company financial profile from ICC (ICFF) and news coverage of that company from Dialog Global Reporter (REPO).

Additionally, you have the option to annotate documents in PRIV — to include descriptive keywords or to make user-specific comments — to add value and as an aid to retrieval. Your private file is accessible only to you and those DataStar user ids that have been authorized.
