Support : Publications : Chronolog Archives : April 2002 DialogPRO: Dialog's Small Business Solution DialogPRO is an exciting new service available for fixed monthly fees with unlimited usage that is designed specifically for small businesses. Information that falls outside of the subscription package is made available to DialogPRO customers on a "Pay Per View" basis. (See Figure 1: DialogPRO Home Page.) What is PRO? PRO stands for Predictable Research Online. Predictable: Research options are available for small businesses. Not all organizations are the same, so small businesses can choose the DialogPRO channel(s) that meets their needs. They pay one fixed rate and use DialogPRO as often as they want. Research: DialogPRO contains the information necessary to monitor industry trends, prepare for a meeting with clients, and make more informed decisions. When it comes to content, no one is better connected than Dialog. Online: DialogPRO is fast. The product is a collection of simple fill-in-the-blank search forms. Behind the scenes search queries ensure that researchers retrieve the most relevant documents — eliminating the need to sort through thousands of useless hits. DialogPRO Channels DialogPRO is a collection of modules or information channels. This initial phase of DialogPRO has two subscription channels that allow customers to access Advertising and News information in an easy to use interface. A third channel called Pay Per View enables all searchers to access selected Dialog content on a transactional basis. AdvertisingPRO: The advertising channel is one of the first markets introduced in DialogPRO, and it is targeted to the needs of a small- to medium-sized advertising firm. Searchers can access brand, company, market, and news information from leading sources like the Advertiser and Agency Red Books™, Brands and Their Companies, Business & Industry™, the Chicago Tribune, Gale Group Marketing & Advertising Reference Service®, Gale Group PROMT®, and the New York Times®. (See Figure 2: DialogPRO Advertising.) NewsPRO: News is another market introduced on DialogPRO, and it consists of two subscription tiers from which customers can choose. The first tier, called Primary, allows customers to search against leading news sources like the Financial Times, Global Reporter, and the New York Times. Provided at a higher subscription rate, the second tier, Plus, enables users to search against sources like Business & Industry™, Gale Group Magazine Database®, and Gale Group PROMT® in addition to the Primary sources. (See Figure 3: DialogPRO News.) Pay Per View: In addition to packages in Advertising and News, a Pay Per View section is available allowing customers to purchase high value business information on a transactional basis. Charges in the Pay Per View channel will appear on the customer's monthly invoice. Leading sources in this section include D&B's Market Identifier files, EIU Market Research, Euromonitor, Freedonia, Frost & Sullivan, Investext®, and TableBase™. Want to Find Out More? Later this year, Dialog will launch additional content channels focused on such areas as health and wellness, energy, defense, biotech, competitive intelligence, and intellectual property.
