Content Briefs: Commerce Business Daily Name Changed to FBODaily

FedBizOpps (FBO) has replaced Commerce Business Daily as the official listing of all Federal government contracting opportunities and awards over $25,000, as mandated by the Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR Part 5. FBODaily is the new name for the databases; the file numbers, 194 and 195, remain the same.

Recently, Federal Business Opportunities was designated in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) as the single point of universal electronic public access on the Internet to government-wide Federal procurement opportunities that exceed $25,000 (see 66 Fed. Reg. 27407, May 16, 2001). The FAR requires agencies, as of October 1, 2001, to use FedBizOpps to provide access to public notices of procurement actions over $25, 000 that are currently required to be published in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) along with associated solicitations and amendments.

Accordingly, effective January 4, 2002, the Department of Commerce ceased publication of the Commerce Business Daily through the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). The Department of Commerce has instructed agencies to recognize FedBizOpps as the official source for all procurement information and notices to be published under 41 U.S.C. 416(a)(2)(B)and the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 637(e) and (k)). Other notices that would be published, such as notices of subcontracting opportunities (15 U.S.C. 637(k)) will also be made available to FedBizOpps.
