Global Graphics' Jaws PDF Creator 2.0, a full-fledged
Portable Document Format (PDF) distiller for corporate,
graphic arts, print, and Web-publishing professionals,
gets excellent marks overall, especially for its ease
of use and low cost. With Jaws PDF Creator 2.0, users
can translate and render files in many native formats
to the PDF 1.3 format and can also review, exchange,
mark up, manage, and archive documents. Components on
the hybrid CD provided include an installer and
Acrobat Reader 4.05 in five languages. Testers
installed Jaws PDF Creator 2.0 in just a few minutes,
and the installer updated printer descriptions in
each launched application, including QuarkXPress.
Testers could create a PDF either with either an
intuitive printing-type feature or by using
PostScript or Encapsulated PostScript files, which
could be dragged-and-dropped to the Jaws PDF Creator
2.0 creator icon on the desktop. Testers
particularly liked the ability to choose the Jaws
PDF Creator from the print dialog box. RSA security
technology, including password protection and
encryption, are also provided by Jaws PDF Creator.
