Significant Updates on DataStar

Martindale Pharmacopoeia (MART)—the complete drug reference—was recently updated with the following revisions and additions:

1. 32 of the 51 drug group chapters have been revised. For the drug chapters, Martindale collects information on drugs with related clinical properties and integrates this information into the drug chapter. Revision generally involves thorough validation of the changes and additions and often means that substantial parts of a chapter are changed.



2. 60 new drug monographs have been added.



3. There is a new disease treatment review called 'Cardiovascular risk reduction.' Treatment reviews can be identified in MART by the article type 'Treatment Review' in the AT paragraph. For example, to extract records about this new review, enter: _: cardiovascular adj risk.ti. and at=treatment-review.



4. References to proprietary preparations of the following countries have been updated: Australia, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) was also updated in the first quarter of this year. 62 new reviews have been added, and 55 others have been revised. Remember that you have access to the full reviews in PDF via DataStarWeb. To retrieve the full reviews, request CDSR in DataStar to connect to the searchable abstract database of the Systematic Reviews. Enter your search, print out the abstracts and click the PDF button for the full review.
