United States Pre-Grant Publications On Dialog (continued)

Incorporating the published applications into Dialog

The following lists the status of published applications in each pertinent Dialog database.

1. Derwent

U.S. published applications appeared on Dialog through Derwent World Patents Index (Files 350, 351, 352) in update 200116 See the sample Derwent record below which illustrates the U.S. published applications in the database. (See Figure 1.)

2. INPADOC

The published applications are also available in INPADOC/Family and Legal Status (File 345). As with all Dialog's patent databases, the patent document numbers are searched in a standard format across all files.

Note that the kind code for PGPs in INPADOC is "US AA," not the "US A1" kind code used in all other databases. (See Figure 2.)

See the sample INPADOC record in Figure 3 which illustrates the U.S. published applications in the database.

3. CLAIMS®/U.S. Patents

CLAIMS/U.S. Patents (File 340) has been reloaded and enhanced with published applications available from the USPTO since March, 2001.

File 340 is now updated two times a week. The pre-grant published applications are searchable using the Patent Number (PN=) field and are published each Thursday. Granted patents are published each Tuesday. Subject searches may be restricted to patent application using the Document Type (DT=) field. (See Figure 4.)

4. PATFULL

Published applications will be added (along with a number of enhancements) to File 654 with the coming reload. The proposed format will be similar to the CLAIMS database in that the B information will be appended to the A information if the patent grants. The reload is expected to be completed soon.
