New Content in NewsRX and Cochrane on DataStar™

As you know, NewsRX on DataStar (RXNS) is a full-text repository of newsletters arranged by therapeutic area. At the September 2001 launch, 19 titles were included in NewsRX: AIDS Weekly, Angiogenesis Weekly, Biotech Week, Cancer Weekly, Drug Week, Gene Therapy Weekly, Genomics & Genetics Weekly, Health & Medicine Week, Heart Disease Weekly, Hepatitis Weekly, Immunotherapy Weekly, Medical Letter on the CDC & FDA, Obesity, Fitness & Wellness Week, Pain & Central Nervous System Week; TB & Outbreaks Week, Vaccine Weekly, Virus Weekly, Women's Health Weekly. Since then one additional title has been added to the online collection: Medical Devices & Surgical Technology Week.

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR)

CDSR was launched on DataStar in September 2001. With the October reload, 88 new Reviews were added and 181 existing Reviews were revised.

Check the "Additional Notes" section of the DataStarWeb database guide for a full list of the 88 new and 181 revised reviews added with this update. Or, refer to Appendix 1 of the BASE database guide - search as BASE-CDSR.

Here are a few samples of new reviews added to CDSR:

• Antenatal day care units versus hospital admission for women with complicated pregnancy
  
• Antidepressants versus psychological treatments and their combination for bulimia nervosa
• Directly observed therapy for treating tuberculosis
• Interferon in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis
• Oral steroids for bronchiectasis (stable and acute exacerbations)
• Platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa blockers for percutaneous coronary revascularization, and unstable angina and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction
• Systemic therapy for treating locoregional recurrence in women with breast cancer
• Vitamin C supplementation for asthma
