Support : Publications : Chronolog Archives : November/December 2001 A Winning Combination With the addition of the INSPEC database to the OnDisc collection of science databases, all of the key "must-have" databases in the fields of materials, energy, and engineering are now available for fixed-cost searching through Dialog. Produced by the Institution of Electrical Engineers, Dialog OnDisc® INSPEC® is the leading English-language bibliographic information service providing access to the world's scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computers and information technology. Searching INSPEC, scientists can find out about the aspects of solar energy distribution and production process control in cultivated plants, explore the application of solar batteries in sprinkling control systems, and more. The database covers subject areas such as: acoustics, computer applications, astronomy and astrophysics, electricity generation and supply, electronic instrumentation, and computational mathematics, just to name a few subjects. Dialog@Site makes searching easy By combining the collection of scientific databases with the Dialog@Site software, users have a complete online information solution. With Dialog@Site 5.1, customers can easily and quickly load the Dialog OnDisc databases onto their corporate intranets or allow their users access via a local @Site agent server if they prefer Internet access. Either way customers can search Dialog OnDisc databases with guaranteed local web access, essential in countries where bandwidth is a problem. The interface 5.1 version is fully customizable. GOLD eDOCS handles e-journal linking Using GOLD eDOCS, users can link easily to e-journals. Here's how it works. The customer subscribes to one or more Dialog OnDisc databases, accessible through their own intranet or via one of the more than 30 local @Site agent servers located around the world. They will also have print subscriptions to the journals of their choice. GOLD eDOCS (part of the Dialog@Site software) creates a link between the references the customer retrieves, and theelectronic full text of the article from which the reference is derived. Dialog has signed agreements with more than 90 of the top publishers and full-text aggregators, including Elsevier Science Direct®, Cambridge University Press, and EBSCO. GOLD eDOCS then provides a simple-to-use link from the abstract Dialog databases to customers' journal collections. GOLD eDOCS will not only connect to remotely hosted e-journals, but will also link into the customers' local e-journals and their print journal collections.
