Information Science Abstracts Reloaded

Information Science Abstracts (ISA), Dialog File 202, has been reloaded. As a result of the reload many improvements have been made to the file, the excellent source for abstracts covering the literature of information science.

Changes to existing fields include:

  • Author field (AU=) is separated from Corporate Source and includes author's e-mail address.
  • URL is added to journals, authors, and publishers where it is available.
  • Variations and inconsistencies in journal names, publication dates, and country names have been corrected.

In addition, new fields have been added to enable users to pinpoint specific data more easily:

  • International Standard Book Number — ISBN (BN=)
  • International Standard Serial Number — ISSN (SN=)
  • Conference Title (CT=)
  • Conference Location (CL=)
  • Conference Year (CY=)
  • Place of Publication (CP=)
  • Journal Announcement (JA=)
  • Main Heading (MH=)
  • Publication Date (PD=)
  • Publisher (PU=)
  • Classification Codes and Description (SH=)

No longer available are Abstract Source (AS=) and Patent Assignee (PA=).

Increased coverage. ISA is the only online database to provide complete and comprehensive coverage of all the e-journals in information science. At present 26 e-journals are included (even those which have ceased production). Some titles are: Ariadne; D-Lib Magazine; First Monday; Issues in Science & Technology Librarianship; Journal of Library Services for Distance Education; LIBRES: Library and Information Science Research; PACS-R: Public Access Computer Systems Review; and Review of Information Science. Gaps in coverage of major journals have been filled.
