CANCERLIT® Reloaded

CANCERLIT (Dialog: File 159, DataStar: CANC) has been reloaded to include the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) revisions to the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®) vocabulary. For the 2001 reload, citations going back to the earliest records from 1975 to the present have been updated wherever necessary with the new MeSH headings.

Changes to existing fields

Dialog:

  • Volume, issue, page, and publication year are searchable in the Source Information (SO=) field.
  • Subfile (SF=) field includes the description instead of 1-3 letter codes. For example:
  • SF=D will be SF=DENTAL
    SF=H will be SF=HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
    SF=IM will be SF=INDEX MEDICUS

DataStar:

  • Tree Numbers now have zeros to make three digits (e.g., D2-241-81-407 must now be searched as D02-241-081-407)

New fields

  • Dialog: Record Type (RT=). All records have RT=Completed.
    DataStar: all records are searchable with the quick code COMPLETE=YES
  • Dialog: Record Date Created (UP=). DataStar: Entry Date (ED). This field
    displays the date when the record was entered into the database by the Information Provider.
  • Dialog: PubMed Unique Identifier PMID (AA=). This field is available this year for NLM records only. Other records will have this field added in 2002. On DataStar the PMID appears in the AN field.
  • Country of Publication (Dialog: CP= DataStar: CP)

Fields no longer available:

Due to format changes Journal Announcement (Dialog's JA= and DataStar's IM) and ISBN (BN=) are no longer available from the Information Provider. Map CS has been eliminated on Dialog.
