Expanded Journal Coverage for Dialog Databases
Several key technical databases from BowkerAbstracts in New Technology & Engineering, Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts, and Library Information Sciences Abstracts have broadened their coverage with new
journal titles.
- As of 2001 Abstracts in New Technology & Engineering (ANTE) (File 238/ANTE) will be increasing its journal coverage to include articles taken from Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Pt.L. Journal of Materials: Design and Application; Metalworking Express; Packaging Technology; Design Engineering; EMA Network; Food Engineering & Ingredients; International Journal of Sustainable Development; Journal of Architectural Conservation and Mining; Quarrying & Recycling.
The ANTE database is a major source of information on Architecture, Control Technology, Cryogenics, Materials Science, Military Engineering, Mineral Extraction, Polymers and Robotics. There are now over 293,000 articles abstracted and indexed, which include such information as the authors, journal name, year of publication, ISSN.
- Applied Social Sciences Index & Abstracts (File 232/ASSI) database will also benefit from the inclusion of additional new journals including Psychology Review, Sociology Review with another six further titles in the pipeline.
This unique database offers a combination of Psychology and Sociology information in one resource. Over its 14-year history, this file has been steadily increasing the number of journals abstracted, currently standing at over 600 English-language publications from around the world. With almost 274,000 abstracts at your disposal, Applied Social Sciences Index & Abstracts is an indispensable tool for professionals in the applied social sciences field.
- Library & Information Sciences Abstracts (LISA) (File 61) will also benefit from the inclusion of journal titles such as the Financial Times, Printing History, Professional de la Information (Spanish language journal), Select Newsletter, Texas Library Journal, Times Higher Education Supplement which are in addition to the 40 new titles added at the end of 2000.
Reflecting the new patterns in society, together with changing requirements in the library community, LISA has continued to research new subjects that should be incorporated into LISA coverage. New included subjects are Life Long Learning, Information Literacy, Knowledge Management, Information Systems Management and Management Issues. Holding almost 229,000 indexed articles with abstracts dating back over 30 years, LISA is one of the core library and information science tools available.
