Support : Publications : Chronolog Archives : January/February 2001 European News Information Grows on Dialog with the Release of Two United Kingdom Newspaper Files Two new newspaper files became available on Dialog in January to strengthen the coverage of news events in the United Kingdom. File 756, The Daily and Sunday Telegraph, and File 757, The Mirror Group Publications, bring extensive coverage of local, national (United Kingdom), and international news as well as information dealing with government, business, health, technology, sporting events, and leisure activities. File 756, The Daily and Sunday Telegraph, comes from London and contains the complete text of the final editions of these two papers. These papers are well known for quality news stories and excellent coverage in business issues and sporting events. Use this file to find information about London and the United Kingdom, as well as some international events. Also included are stories about science, technology, fashion, the arts, TV, and radio. The file on Dialog starts with September 2000 stories and is updated daily. File 757, The Mirror Group Publications, is a compilation of eleven newspapers spanning the United Kingdom and gives complete coverage of news stories in Great Britain, Ireland, and Scotland. There is complete coverage of local, national (United Kingdom), and international news stories, as well as stories about the arts, education, business, popular culture, science, health, people, TV, and radio. File 757 on Dialog starts with September 2000 stories and is updated daily. Newspapers included in the file are:
These files may be searched individually or as part of the PAPERSUK OneSearch® category. Use the JN= Additional Index prefix if you wish to narrow your search to a particular newspaper. A full record in either of the files costs $2.60 for each record, and Alerts can be set up either with a weekly or daily frequency. Dialog's ERA program also applies to these files. All of these papers are also available through Profound's NewsLine product. With the release of File 757, The Independent, currently on Dialog as File 711, will no longer be updated. File 711 will remain on Dialog as an archive file. Any Alerts that you may have running in File 711 should be transferred to File 757.
