Conducting a Preliminary Screening Trademark Search

Searching the Text of a Trademark

Using the Rotated Index (cont'd)

A search history screen appears that lists all of the sets you have just created. Note that there are 6 marks containing the terms LEGO and LAND. These words may appear in any part of the trademark. Remember that in our Exact Trademark search in Lesson 1 we only retrieved 5 marks. We have now picked up one additional record in this screening search.

We see that each word is retained in a separate set because we used the SELECT STEPS (SS) command in our search.

Now, for this example, we'll use the TYPE command to display all of the records in SHORT format to see the different marks. Ray also wanted owners, so we can also add the display code OW to see the owners of the six marks. Tip 2-6

Search Tip 2-6

Check the Dialog Bluesheet for the content included with each format.

In this case, the SHORT format does not include the owner name.

MEDIUM format includes only the last reported owner. The display code OW which we are using in our TYPE command will retrieve all owners.
