Use the ONTAP (ONline Training And Practice) databases indicated to practice your searches.
View the current ONTAP user numbers and passwords. Remember that you must use the ONTAP user number and password to avoid incurring charges for your practice searches.

Exercise 1
Exercise 1: Before starting Lesson 2, answer the questions below. The material will reinforce your understanding of the information you just learned in Lesson 1 and provide you with additional practice using the Dialog commands.
In question 2, conduct the searches in the ONTAP TRADEMARKSCAN—U.S. Federal database (File 296). [Note: Remember that ONTAP databases are only portions of the complete databases. They contain records from a brief time period.]
Try logging on to DialogWeb and performing the requested searches for questions 2 and 3. Remember, you will need to logon using the practice (ONTAP) user id and password provided in order to search at no cost.
When you have finished all of the questions, click the "Check Yourself" icon to view correct answers.
1. What command would you use for the following:
- I want to perform a search in TRADEMARKSCAN—U.S. Federal and TRADEMARKSCAN—U.S. State databases at the same time.
- I want to create a set of records.
- I want to view the trademark only. Which format would I use?

2. Who owns the trademark for the following slogan: "See the stars. Ride the movies." ?
3. An application was filed to trademark the phrase "Space Shuttle Astronaut". Was the trademark ever registered? If not, who opposed it? What was the intended use of the trademark?
