Searching OneSearch Results

Dialog OneSearch will search the 17 files in the Major Newspapers category and give us a set of results.

Tip 6-3

We can now take a look at a few records to see if our search is on target. I will use the KWIC format to see the search terms in the context of the articles. This will give title, date of publication, and bits of the articles and help me decide which ones to select in complete text.

I'll enter my TYPE command in the command text box:

   type s1/6,k/1 from each

Tip 6-4

We can now take a look at a few records to see if our search is on target. I will use the KWIC or K format to see the search terms in the context of the articles, along with Format 6 to see the title and date of publication. This will help me decide which ones to select in complete text.

Search Tip 6-3:

It is often a good idea to remove duplicate records when searching two or more files together.

The command REMOVE DUPLICATES eliminates duplicate records and creates a set of unique records in which only one copy from each set of duplicates is retained.

If no set number is specified, the command will operate on the last set SELECTed.

Example:
Remove duplicates
remove duplicates s1

Use the FROM EACH command at the end of the TYPE command to request output from each of the files in a OneSearch session.

Example:
type s1/free/1 from each
