Basic U.S. Company Information (cont'd)

Step 2:

Determine a U.S. company's Status: Public vs. Private

One way to determine if a U.S. company is publicly or privately held is to search Dun's Market Identifiers® (File 516), produced by Dun and Bradstreet. Tip 1-2

Let's conduct a search in File 516 to get some basic information on Apple Computer. It will also show us where its headquarters is located and, of course, whether it is public or private.

The search is demonstrated below using DialogWeb 2.0. You will have a chance to try searching DialogWeb on your own for the practice exercises at the end of the lesson.
