View the current ONTAP user numbers and passwords. Remember that you must use the ONTAP user number and password to avoid incurring charges for your practice searches.

Log onto DialogWeb (www.dialogweb.com) to perform the searches in this exercise.


Exercise 1:

The following questions will require that you use both techniques discussed in Lesson 1 for finding information on companies.

Try logging on to DialogWeb and performing the requested searches for questions 2 and 3. Remember, you will need to logon using the practice (ONTAP) user id and password provided in order to search at no cost.

  1. Write search strategies to find information on the following companies:
    1. General Electric Company
    2. World's Finest Chocolate
    3. Ciba-Geigy AG
  2. Locate company information on Monsanto. (Use ONTAP D&B Dun's Market Identifiers, File 276).
  3. Find out if there is a Hewlett Packard location listed in Los Angeles County. (Use ONTAP D&B Dun's Market Identifiers, File 276).

    Hint: Use the prefix CX= for county.
