Using the EXPAND Command (continued)
In File 4, I'll use the EXPAND command to conduct the search on the author Fantacci, then refine it to see what Fantacci is writing about performance evaluation of LEOS, and finally narrow it to the last three years. Here's how it will look.
Step 1: EXPAND using the appropriate prefix and term:
e au=fantacci
Enter the command in the text box and click

Step 2: SELECT the E-numbered lines that contain variations for the author Fantacci.
Because I don't know which Fantacci is doing the performance evaluation research, I want to get all of the Fantacci entries listed in the database. I will choose E numbers 2-5 and enter the command in the text box:
s e2:e5
I want the Fantacci that is involved in performance evaluation of LEOS research. I can now refine my search to include the terms performance evaluation and LEOS. I also want records to include several years, so I will use the prefix PY=1997:1999 to narrow the search further.
My search would look like this:
s s1 and performance(2n)evaluation and leos and py=1997:1999
Refine Search Results
Since there are only three records, we'll enter the TYPE command in the command text box, using the FULL format to get the entire records, and click .
From the records we can see that R. Fantacci has written extensively on performance evaluation of LEOS. I'll send these all over to Brian.
