Lesson 6: Refining a Search (Part 2)
Objectives
- Understand the Additional Indexes of the Dialog Bluesheet
- Use the Dialog Bluesheet for prefix code searching
- Use the EXPAND command
Introduction
Chris -
I promise this is my last request. Based on the last items you sent, it looks like a researcher named Fantacci has been a prominent contributor to articles written on performance evaluation of the LEOS communication system. Has he written anything in the last three years?
Thanks,
Brian
Before answering Brian's request, let's look again at the Dialog Bluesheets. This time we'll look at the Additional Indexes to identify the author name.
The Additional Indexes
In Lesson 5 we looked at the Basic Index to refine our search to the most relevant information on low earth orbit satellites or LEOS. Additional Indexes indicate how to narrow a search further by using information other than the subject of the search.
For example, we may want to find articles written by a specific author. Or, we may need conference proceedings he has contributed to. We may also want information written only in the last year. In any of these cases, we will be searching Dialog's Additional Indexes.
