Now You Try It
Before starting Lesson 2, go online to answer the questions below. The material will reinforce your understanding of the information you just learned in Lesson 1 and provide you with additional information about appropriate databases for the Iridium topic.
When you have finished all of the questions, click the Check Yourself icon below to view correct answers.
Exercise 1:
First, create search strategies for
the following searches. Then try logging on to DialogWeb and
performing the requested searches. Remember, you
will need to logon using the practice (ONTAP) user
id and password
provided in order to search at no cost.
Note: We are using the DialogWeb interface for DIALINDEX since it is easy to use and can be used for free via the Web.
We want to expand our choice of databases to include some of the computer science journals. Here's what I want you to do.
Use ONTAP DIALINDEX® (File 290) to select a category to browse for appropriate databases containing technical literature on the topic of Iridium. Answer the questions online using DIALINDEX.
- Which category from the eight main ones would you choose to select computer science journals on the Iridium topic?
- Which sub-category would you select for the Iridium topic?
- Use the same search terms we used in DIALINDEX when we searched the engineering category to run the search.
- Look at the description of the Inspec database (File 2) by clicking the title of the database
