Patent Assignees and Publication Dates

Objectives

In this lesson, you will learn to:

Introduction

Teri —
I would like to see what additional patents have been granted to Oddzon, the patent assignee for the Woosh. I'm not familiar with this company. Do they have any patents in the last year?
Thanks,
Brian

For this search I want to see if Oddzon has any patents outside the U.S., as well as U.S. patents. I will use File 351, Derwent World Patents Index for this request. This file provides information on patents issued by over 40 patent-issuing organizations internationally.

To start my search, I type the BEGIN command and the file number at the question mark prompt and press ENTER.

?b 351

We need to determine what search prefix we need to search for patent assignee. If we look at the Additional Indexes of File 351, we can see that the prefix for patent assignee is PA=. The Additional Indexes for File 351 are shown on the Bluesheet for File 351 which can be found in the Library.

Review the Additional Indexes and then go the next page.
