Example:
s e4
s e1 or e4
s e2:e4

I enter the SELECT command and the appropriate E number(s) for the Woosh patent number at the question mark prompt and press ENTER. A set of records appears containing the number of records I found with my patent number search. There should be only 1 patent.

?s e1
      S1 1 PN="US 4944707"

Patent numbers have a consistent Dialog format that permits cross-file searching.

Command Example When to Use It
SELECT
S
select pn=us 123456
s pn=us 123456
s s1
Use to create a set of records (e.g., s1) that contains the specified terms.

Search Tip 2-5

The term "patent" in a Dialog database refers to any published form or description of an invention, ranging from published unexamined applications to fully examined granted patents.

Therefore, it is best to think of PN as a Publication Number or Patent Number.
