Refining a Search (Part 1) Summary

We have started our review of the Dialog Bluesheets, the most essential documentation for day-to-day searching. We found that a Dialog Bluesheet shows a typical record with all fields labeled and lists details about the search options and output options.

We also learned that every Dialog database has two indexes: the Basic Index that contains words from all of the subject-related fields, and the Additional Indexes that include all other searchable fields. In addition, we saw that suffixes are options when searching the Basic Index to refine searches.

We are now ready to look at the Additional Indexes from a Dialog Bluesheet and learn about searching the Additional Indexes.
