(Redwood Shores, Calif, October 22, 2003) –In conjunction with today’s U.S. availability of the Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Smartphone, Visto Corporation (www.visto.com), a leading provider of personal and corporate mobile access solutions that are easy to install, administer and use, announced support of the new Windows Mobile software for Smartphones. The Windows Mobile-based Smartphone introduces an entirely new mobile phone experience through the integration of smart software and small, stylish handsets…all within an experience that is familiar to Windows users.
Visto's solution, MessageXpress™, will allow Windows Mobile-based
Smartphone customers to access their corporate email from Lotus
Notes or Microsoft Exchange, or POP3 Internet email including attachments.
Using 128-bit encryption and Visto's own patented technology; MessageXpress
gives users secure email access and transmission in addition to
synchronization capabilities that enable simple and seamless management
of their email from any Smartphone.
Visto has long supported Windows Mobile and was invited to join
the Microsoft Mobility Partner Advisory Council (MPAC), an invitation-only
program developed by Microsoft Corp. to empower partners to create
software solutions for Windows Mobile-based devices. Since becoming
an MPAC member, Visto has participated in Mobile2Market, a unique
certification program that helps companies develop network-ready
wireless applications for Windows Mobile-based devices. With Mobile2Market
certification, Visto has been able to assure mobile operators that
its solutions meet Microsoft requirements and are ready for deployment.
“Visto was among the first supporters of Windows Mobile software
for Smartphones and we continue to expand our support because we
share Microsoft's vision of bringing next-generation mobile devices
along with great wireless applications to consumers and to the enterprise,”
said Brian Bogosian, chairman, president, and CEO of Visto. “Through
MPAC, we're able to drive greater adoption of wireless devices and
premier messaging solutions like Visto’s MessageXpress. We're
happy to continue to play an important role in MPAC into 2004,”
said Bogosian.
“Windows Mobile software for Smartphones provides a revolutionary
mobile phone experience that helps people stay better connected
to their information and provides opportunity for the mobile industry
to deliver new services, applications and innovative handsets,”
said Julie Wymetalek, partner manager for the Mobile Devices Division
at Microsoft. “Visto brings additional value to Windows Mobile-based
Smartphones by enabling customers to access email in a secure environment
regardless of their location.”
