(Las Vegas, NEVADA., January 09, 2003) –Visto Corporation (www.visto.com), the leading provider of mobile access solutions that are simple to install, administer and use, demonstrated Visto MessageXpressTM, a personal e-mail solution for the Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC and Microsoft Windows Powered Smartphone, today at the Consumer Electronics Show and announced that Visto and Microsoft Corp. will work together to market and sell this rapidly deployable solution to mobile operators. As a result the mobile operator may choose to brand this solution as its own and resell it to its customers. MessageXpress, selected by Microsoft as a mobile personal e-mail option for Windows Powered devices, supports end-to-end Microsoft-based hardware and software for deploying the solution to mobile operators.
“Visto’s mobility solutions have come to be known as not only a viable and proven email solution for enabling wireless capabilities within the enterprise, but also as a superior technology and value-add for device manufacturers and the mobile operators who cater to the consumer market,” said Brian Bogosian, chairman, president and CEO of Visto. “We are pleased to be chosen as a preferred email solution on Microsoft’s new array of mobile devices.”
The Visto Solution
Customers purchasing Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC and Smartphone
devices will be able to quickly and simply install and activate
Visto MessageXpress upon purchase of their device. Once installed,
users will be able to access their corporate or Internet email,
regardless of their location. In addition, Visto MessageXpress is
a secure solution that protects email during transmission between
the device and computer. And with the MessageXpress wireless synchronization
feature, email delivered to a user’s mobile device stays consistent
with the email account on their desktop.
“For a device to be truly mobile, it has to offer applications that run on various networks and allow the user to remain connected to email and data, anywhere, anytime,” said Howard Gefen, director of mobile operator solutions and business development for the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft. “Visto’s experience in the wireless space and the proven strength of its mobility application complement Microsoft’s strategy to provide Pocket PC and Smartphone customers with end-to-end wireless solutions.”
