Find Trademarks Using Classification Codes?
TOPIC: One way to narrow a search is to use classification codes to indicate a specific area of interest. International (IC=) classification codes contain one to two digits. For broadest coverage, use related class codes. In this example, you want to locate all marks that include the letters ZYME in the trademark.
You will search the TRADEMARKSCAN—Benelux (File 658) file, which contains information on 448,284 trademark applications filed since 1971 and registrations published since 1985 in Benelux Merkenblad, Recueil des Marques Benelux. The file also includes inactive published trademarks from the last three years and unpublished trademarks for the last year.
