Find the Expiration Date of a Main Product Patent Protecting a Specific Drug? TOPIC: There are several patent databases that can be used to find patent expiration information. For U.S. patent databases like CLAIMS®/U.S. Patents (File 340), you can search with the patent number. For the most up-to-date U.S. patent legal status, use CLAIMS®/U.S. Legal Status (File 123). For DIOGENES® (File 158), search using the Source – the New Drug List and the drug name. Other databases INPADOC (File 345) and IMS Patent Focus (File 447) show international legal status. In this example, using the patent number in the CLAIMS databases (Files 340 and 123), you want to find the expiration date for the patent for Mivacron.
