Locate Plant Patents? TOPIC: In this example you will be searching for the patent number for a new type of rose plant in the CLAIMS database. Plant patents do not conform to the same 7-digit number beginning with 5, 6, or 7. You will enter the U.S. country code, a space, and the letters PP, followed by a five-digit number (fill with leading zeroes, if needed). Note: In INPADOC, enter the U.S. country code a space, and the letters PP, followed by a four or five-digit number (no leading zeroes). U.S. plant patents can be found in CLAIMS®/US Patents (File 340, 341, 942), U.S. Patents Fulltext (Files 654) and INPADOC (File 345). To search for all plant patents use the following strategies:
