Find the Status of Legal Action Taken on a Company?

TOPIC: In this example, you will obtain status of legal action on Chiron regarding a drug for hepatits C.

LitAlert® (File 670) contains records for patent and trademark infringement lawsuits filed in the ninety-four U.S. District Courts and reported to the USPTO. Records provide descriptive information about the lawsuit, as well as names of plaintiffs and defendants. The file can be used to obtain court and docket information, check the validity and legal status of a patent and monitor a company's intellectual property holdings.

 

COMMAND SUMMARY

BEGIN 670
EXPAND CO=CHIRON
Select all entries related to Chiron
SELECT S1 AND HEPATITIS(W)C
TYPE S2/9/1


HOW TO...


1. After entering BEGIN 670 to open LitAlert for searching, use Visual Expand (VE) with the CO= prefix and the name of the company.

 

2. Check the appropriate entries and click SELECT.

Note: You can also use EXPAND CO=CHIRON and SELECT the appropriate E number(s).

3. S1 contains all patents held by Chiron.

Now narrow the search to Chiron patents related to hepatitis C. Use the (W) or ( ) connector between keywords.

4. TYPE out one or more records depending on how many you need to view.

 

The record provides the patent title, plaintiff, action taken, location and filing date and any other related patents.
