Find All Owners for a Particular U.S. Patent?
TOPIC: For this example you will look for all owners of U.S. patent 7013442. This includes original owners and any owners to whom the patent may have been reassigned. You can use CLAIMS®/Current Patent Legal Status (File 123) to find the most current legal status for U.S. patents. U.S.
Patents Fulltext (File 654) also contains U.S. legal status although it is not as current as that in File 123. If you are looking for all owners of a non-U.S. patent, INPADOC (File 345) includes bibliographic data for patents from approximately 70 countries and legal status data for over 30 of those countries.

HOW TO...

1. BEGIN 123, CLAIMS/Current Patent Legal Status, for the most up-to-date U.S. patent legal status.
2. SELECT U.S. patent number (PN=) and the type of document (DT=reassigned).
Note: You can view the patent to see the legal status without having to use the DT=REASSIGNED.
3. TYPE the patent using Format 9 to see all reassignment data.

Note the Assignor and Assignee to see all owners of this patent.
If no record is retrieved for a specific patent, it means that there is no reported post-issuance legal status for that patent, and that the user can identify the owner of the patent by searching the patent number in File 340 or 654 and displaying the record in Format 3.
Note: If you want to search File 654 for legal status, it is recommend to display the record in Format 3,LS. You can also retrieve the abstract, claims or fulltext of the patent in File 654.
