Find International Legal Status for a Specific Patent?
TOPIC: In this example, you want to search for U.S. patent 5,038,578 from CLAIMS®/U.S. Patents (File 340). Then using DialogLink 5 record links, you can automatically link to legal status information from individual records. CLAIMS®/Current Legal Status (File 123) contains U.S. legal status, and INPADOC (File 345) contains legal status internationally. In this example, you want international legal status.

SELECT PN=US 5038578
TYPE S1/3/1
Click Links > Legal Status > Check Legal Status (International)

HOW TO...
1. After entering BEGIN 340 to open the Claims/U.S. Patents database, SELECT the patent number (pn=US 5038578).

2. TYPE out a record in Format 3; then click Links > Legal Status > Check Legal Status (International).
Note: You could also click U.S. legal status to see only legal status from the U.S.

3. All patent numbers in the family display checked. Deselect any patents you don’t want to search. Click the number(s) you want to search in File 345 and click OK.

The patent number is automatically searched in the new file and a set created.

4. TYPE the patent using Format 3 and the user-defined format LS for legal status. |
